The Holocaust/Genocide Project (HGP),originating at Cold Spring Harbor High School, New York, formerly on i*EARN, is an independent, international, nonprofit, telecommunications project focusing on study of the Holocaust, genocides, and current events. The purpose of the HGP is to promote education and awareness, and to encourage the application of this knowledge in a way which makes a positive difference in the world. The HGP welcomes all students -- Age 12 and up -- and teachers, internationally.

The HGP involves participating schools around the world, including schools and organizations in Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Herzegovina, India, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lithuania, Macedonia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, United States, and West Africa.

Features:

The Holocaust/Genocide Project offers a curriculum-focused project catering to multi- and interdisciplinary education. Features of the HGP include the following:

• Complimentary lesson plans.
  
  
• Project Facilitators Mentors who assist with questions on subject matter and curriculum. The facilitators are Joanna 'Joey' Bergida of Cold Spring Harbor High School in Cold Spring Harbor, New York (USA); and Kathy Skidmore of Broadford Secondary College in Victoria, Australia. The project mentors are: Ms. Honey Kern, USHMM Teaching Fellow, (USA), Dr. Victor Minachin (Russia) and Mr. Gideon Goldstein (Israel).

• An international, annual student-produced magazine, An End to Intolerance
  
  
• In some years, a two-week study trip to Poland and Israel, during the week of Passover and Easter. Other years, students travel to Eastern Europe.
